Econ Calendar

The Econ Calendar is the fourth page of the Journal. It lists scheduled economic releases with their impact rating, forecast and previous values, so when you review a day you can see what the market was reacting to.

It sits in the Journal for a reason. A fill that looks like a bad entry in isolation often looks different next to a CPI print two minutes earlier.

The Econ Calendar page listing scheduled economic events by date and time, with country, impact rating, description, forecast and previous columns.

What is on the page

ColumnWhat it holds
DateThe scheduled date and release time.
CountryThe currency the release belongs to, with its flag. USD releases are the ones that move US index and rate futures.
ImpactThe feed's rating for the release, shown as a coloured pill. High is the set worth planning around.
DescriptionThe release name, for example CPI y/y or Core Machinery Orders m/m.
ForecastThe consensus expectation, where the feed publishes one. A dash means none was given.
PreviousThe prior period's figure, for comparison.

Above the table, a row of day chips covers the days remaining in the week, and a week picker and Filter control narrow what you are looking at.

It covers one week at a time

The calendar shows the current trading week only, and new events populate as each new trading week begins.

This is a limit of the upstream feed rather than a display choice. Events come from the Fair Economy ForexFactory feed, which publishes the current week and does not offer a next-week view. So a Monday morning release becomes visible when that week's feed rolls over, not a fortnight ahead.

Planning further out

If you need to see releases beyond this week, check the source calendar directly. CrossTrade can only show what the feed currently publishes.

Events drop off shortly after they fire

An event stays listed for 15 minutes after its scheduled time, then drops off the page. The calendar is a forward-looking view of what is still ahead, not an archive of what already happened.

If you are reviewing an older session, the release that moved that day will no longer be listed here. Your trade detail and notes are where that context should be written down at the time.

The calendar shows; it does not act

This page is informational. It does not block signals and it does not close positions.

The controls that act on economic events are separate:

Where it livesWhat it does
Econ CalendarJournalShows you what is scheduled. Changes nothing.
Economic-Event LockoutMaster Controls, and per-monitor in the Account ManagerRefuses incoming signals inside a window around a release, and optionally flattens the account.

The lockout works from the same feed, so what you see on this page is the set it is working from. By default the lockout considers high-impact USD events, which is a narrower set than everything listed here.

  • Economic-Event Lockout - the control that actually pauses trading around a release
  • Journal - the calendar, trade detail, tagging and notes
  • Analytics - performance breakdown by period
  • Insights - edge analysis and evaluation tracking
