Cloud MCP for Tradovate

AI trading automation for Tradovate.

Connect a supported AI client to a linked Tradovate account through CrossTrade MCP. Start with read access so the client can inspect account context, open positions, and working orders. Authorize trade-capable tools only when the workflow actually needs to change broker state.

Scopes are not confirmations A trade scope is an enforcement boundary, not a substitute for your approval. CrossTrade does not automatically insert a confirmation dialog before every tool call.
First session

Start with what the agent can verify

A useful first session should answer basic account questions before it proposes an order. With read access, ask the client to identify linked Tradovate identities, distinguish Demo from Live, then summarize account context, open positions, and working orders. Do not move to a trade-capable workflow until those facts are clear.

Permissions

Use scopes before prompts

CrossTrade MCP separates read access from trade access. Read access is the right default for analysis, reconciliation, and pre-trade briefs. Grant trade access only for a deliberate workflow that must change broker state, then use the approval settings in your AI client and explicit instructions to require confirmation.

Cloud route

Tradovate is a cloud route

For direct Tradovate orders, CrossTrade connects to Tradovate in the cloud. You do not need to keep a Windows VPS, your home computer, or NinjaTrader 8 running for that route. Test the complete workflow in a Tradovate Demo account before relying on it live.

Direct Tradovate routing is generally available. Some managed ATM and fill-driven copier enhancements remain in beta.

Workflow

A safer first workflow

  1. Link the correct Tradovate Demo or Live identity.
  2. Connect the AI client with read access.
  3. Inspect account context, positions, and working orders.
  4. Review the proposed action in plain language.
  5. Grant trade access only if a change to broker state is intended and your client is configured to ask for confirmation.
Compliance

Check your firm rules before automating

Technical compatibility does not override a prop firm's rules. Before using any third-party automation, external order routing, or trade-copy workflow, check the firm's current terms for the account you intend to use.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI agent work with a Tradovate account?

With a linked Tradovate account, CrossTrade MCP lets a supported AI client use typed tools subject to OAuth permissions. Begin with read access so the client can verify account state before it proposes an action.

Do I need a VPS or NinjaTrader open for AI work with Tradovate?

No. CrossTrade's direct Tradovate route runs in the cloud. A Windows VPS and an open NinjaTrader window are not required for that route.

Should I give an AI client trade access immediately?

No. Start with read access for inspection and analysis. Grant trade access only when a deliberate workflow needs to change broker state, and configure the client to ask for confirmation.

Does CrossTrade decide whether my prop firm permits automation?

No. Check your firm's current rules before connecting third-party automation, external order routing, or a copier to an evaluation or funded account.
